wow

Wow.  All I have to say is wow.
Who knew going from one baby bird to 2 would be such an adjustment!
I don't talk too much about the kids here, but right now my life consists of babies and cows, so that's what I've got to work with.
I just felt I needed to explain my break from blogging, so here goes...

Baby Girl Bird eats all. of. the time.  I'm talking, she is 7 weeks tomorow and she still eats AT LEAST every 2 hours during the day, and occasionally she'll give me a 3 hour stretch at night.
I'm trying not to complain, because I know it's burning lots of calories, right?  But it's really hard to get anything done with a baby attached to your boob 24/7.
It's really hard when daddy bird is working, to give the boy bird the attention he needs, so I'm learning to deal with that one.

Baby Girl Bird is much fussier than the boy birdie was.  We think there are some reflux issues, and maalox helps some, but whatever it is, it causes her to cry and fuss in the evenings, some nights worse than others.  This usually happens about the time I need to get the boy bathed and to bed.  Whew.
All that crying does a number on your mental state.

She's such a sweetie though, and I'm trying to just focus on all the good things.

We are also in the throes of the busy season with our cattle.  Everybody has calved, except for this mama and maybe one other.

She's as big as a house.  I feel ya sister.

We've had to work the cows and calves (another post), sell a few, buy a few, there's just a lot going on right now.  It's more difficult since Daddy Bird works his vet job, and I'm so wrapped up in Mommy mode right now.  Daddy bird is spending much of his off time working on cattle stuff, and looking like this:

I'm spending most of my time either helping with it, thinking about it, or stressing out about it.

Anyway, I've lots of posts to write, if I can get around to writing them, but bear with me as I continue to make this crazy transition from 1 birdie to 2.
It's a crazy, happy, stressful time, but I'm so blessed to experience it!

OH girlie. I so feel ya. I've been praying for you and all my friends entering the wide world of 2 kiddos. It's awesome in every way, but also exhausting and challenging. Jonathan also had some reflux issues, so I know how that can be too. Please let me know how I can help! I miss you sweet friend. And hang in there - it will get easier.

You are doing a great job, Mommy Bird! Feel free to let go of some things; if your boy goes to bed in his playclothes with the remnants of a popsicle all over his face a night or two, it may not be ideal, but it will be okay. Our girl had reflux and some prescription baby Zantac helped a lot, as did putting one side of her crib on bolsters to slant it a little, and keeping her upright in the Moby.

It gets better, I promise. Hang in there.
