not the reaction i expected

I painted the girly bird's tonails for the first time.  We've got a vacation coming up and I thought she needed a pedicure :)

Color: OPI Italian Love Affair.

I know it's messy.  The child doesn't sit still for long.

She couldn't figure out what I had done to her toes.   Then she did something I didn't expect.

The poor little thing started crying!

She was all good today though.  Very proud of her new pink toes.

This child never ceases to surprise me.

Happy Friday - off to do my own toes!

buying cattle, instagram style

Daddy Bird and I had a date of sorts the other day.

We've been expanding our cattle herd, so that means lots of trips to the stockyards to buy cows.  Romantic, huh?

Honestly, we don't get much time alone together these days, so I'll take what I can get.

Thought I'd share some Instagram pics from our last trip.

The same auctionere is there almost every time we go.  I love to listen to the auction.  It makes you want to buy something...

My favorite part of the stockyards is the people watching.  These folks decided they would put a bull in the back of a truck, in a cage.   I decided I would take a picture.

After you buy cattle, you have to go pick them up.  Daddy Bird is waiting patiently.

Here they come, the new mamas.

All loaded up on the trailer.  The stickers on the cows are their sale number and one that tells approximately when they are due to calve.

Home Sweet Home!!

four generations

The baby birds and I were able to spend Mother's Day at my Grandma's house and my Dad snapped this four generation shot.

We'd been wanting to take a photo like this for ages, and I was glad to finally get one taken.

Do you think any or all of us look alike?

My mom and I are told all the time that we resemble each other, but I don't think the Girlie Bird and I look alike.  She definitely favors the Daddy Bird.

Mother's Day this year was such a sweet time for me to remember how fortunate I am to have these ladies as role models.  I treasure any time I get to spend with them!

cows, kids and all kinds of crazy

Hello there!

Where has the time gone?

I've been one big ol' blog slacker over the past couple of months.  Not intentionally, just completely too busy living the craziness of life to document it.

The cows are keeping us crazy busy, my kids are driving me kind of crazy, and by the time I get done with the business of my days I have absolutely no energy left to blog or do anything for that matter.

We've been mostly doing a whole lot of this:

Lots of cows these days, folks.

Thanks for hanging in there with me.  I've got lots to tell you.

Not all of it involves cows.

I promise.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go to bed.
