a few things

I felt the need to share some of the stuff rattling around in my head this Monday morning.  Bear with me...

We went to a wedding this weekend.  An outdoor wedding.  As we were seated, the rain clouds started rolling in.  As the beautiful bride walked down the aisle it started to pour rain and the wind was blowing like 40 miles per hour.  You know what the best part was though?  No one left!  They had like, the quickest ceremony ever, they kissed, everyone cheered like crazy and we all ran back to our cars!  The bride and groom even took photos in the rain afterward.  Daddy Bird said it was the best wedding he had ever been to.

I was married before digital photography.  That makes me old.

I looked at our wedding photos last night.  This is really bad - we have all the proofs, but we never ordered prints!  Oops!  Does that make me a bad person?  Depends on who you talk to.

I love coffee.  I mean I really, really love coffee.  I especially love iced coffee in the summer.  I've been using this recipe from the Pioneer Woman, only in decaff and I'm not sure life would be the same without it.

Girlie Bird is a really great sleeper.  She has been sleeping from 10-6:30 or 7 pretty consistently for over a month now.  However, for the past 2 nights she's been waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning.  Seriously?  What's up with that?

I got mastitis last week.  Hmmm.  Not fun.  We're all good now though.

I really just want my son to poop in the toilet.  I really do.  I'm so over dirty diapers.  Is there some kind of potty training camp I can send him to?

I went to a baby shower this weekend and Daddy Bird's cousin made all the food.  It was
A-MAZING!  I'm hoping to get some recipes to share with ya'll this week.

I may or may not have eaten a big piece of strawberry cake at the shower with the full knowledge that the Girly Bird may or may not break out in a rash when I eat strawberries.  I just really needed that cake.  Does that make me a bad mother?  Depends on who you ask.  No rash yet.

My cousin Patrick just climbed a freakin' mountain!  Check it out!

Now that my brain is empty, I think I'll head off to bed.

Here's to a night of uninterrupted sleep?

ok here is the easiest way (but most disgusting) to get the poo in the potty. Put him in underwear (no joke, just do it) and when he poops, make him clean it up. Cure for life.

When you find that potty training camp, send me the info, my little girl needs it too. Our kids are close in age but the opposite, my girl is oldest,3, and I had my baby boy in May. He also is a good sleeper, but wakes up at 4am, I just put him next to me and back off to dreamland! I figure he's my last baby so why not!! We've never met but I worked with your husband earlier this year at Dr. Johnson's! I love your blog, it's really neat to hear about other kiddos around the same age!

I got married when the best digital photography had to offer was 3.2 MB files. We're so glad we had our wedding shot in medium format and bought our negatives. For our recent anniversary, my husband had all our negatives scanned, and then designed a gorgeous album that we're having printed professionally. I'm so glad to have this done before the technology to do it disappears, and printing is relatively cheap. He'd love the chance to design one for you too if you like!

As for potty training--we do it in one day: teach your boy how to sit on the potty and do his business, then explain that this is how you want him to go to the bathroom from now on. He's a big boy who gets to use underpants instead of baby-diapers. Then load him up with all kinds of liquids and practice going potty all day. Do the same steps each time, from pulling down pants to washing hands and getting a small treat.

Good luck

I just managed to get Nita to poop on the potty - yay! My neighbor suggested that I buy a toy/movie to use as an incentive...and it worked the first day with Nita!! She loves the movie Lilo and Stitch, but we didn't own it, so I bought it and left it out so she could see it. I would only play it for her if she pooped on the potty and she's been going on the potty ever since - not even a single accident. Good luck :)

Oh GIrl! You are so normal! I love it! I am elbow deep in potty training issues. Mainly with poop. It is hands down the hardest thing we have done. If anything clicks, I will let ya know! I love the wedding story, they will have a great story to tell for the rest of their lives! sigh....so great!
